Paulius Rukas b. 1977 Klaipėda, Lithuania

2022 Vilnius Academy of Arts, Telšiai, Master of Arts.
Started his professional activity as a jeweller in 2013. In 2016, the jewellery school Vilnensis awarded the jeweller the first category certificate, in 2017 – the second category certificate, in 2019 – the third category certificate.
In 2019-2020 he was a lecturer at the Jewellery School “Vilnensis”.
Since 2017, Mr Rukas has been a member of the Experimental Archaeology Club “Pajauta”.
Since 2022 Member of the Paris Taylor Foundation Artist Association
Since 2023 Member of the Lithuanian Artists Association
His recent work explores cultural identity, the interaction of space and time, the aesthetics of materiality and historical memory. His work covers geopolitical and social themes such as grounding and a sense of place specificity, which is manifested through jewellery and objects in various forms, from clay sculptures to photographs. The contextuality of place is evident in her work, with her ‘space-parasitisation’ projects using local soil to emphasise the specificity of a particular place, while her experimental photography, inspired by in situ situations, explores themes of time passage and documentation.
His work has been publicly presented in exhibitions, festivals and residencies.
